Absolutely! Melbourne is wonderful because you can combine city sightseeing, shopping, food, nature and day trips. If this is your first visit, these are the places I would prioritise.

🌿 Best day trips from Melbourne
Great Ocean Road + Twelve Apostles ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Probably the #1 day trip I’d recommend. Expect dramatic coastline, rainforest, beaches and the Twelve Apostles.

Phillip Island 🐧
Go for the famous Penguin Parade, where little penguins return from the sea at sunset.

Yarra Valley 🍇
Beautiful countryside, wineries, restaurants and scenic drives. You can combine it with Healesville Sanctuary for Australian wildlife.
Dandenong Ranges 🌳
Good for forests, gardens, scenic drives and the famous Puffing Billy experience.

Sovereign Hill, Ballarat
A fun historical day trip where you can experience 1850s gold-rush Australia.
